Anushastra Karma or Parasurgical Procedures means surgical procedure performed by non-surgical items or in absence of surgical instruments.

Agni Karma / Thermal Cauterization

  • Agni Karma is the procedure which is based on the principle of the thermal cauterization done with many of the different materials like Pancha loha Shalaka, Snigdha Agnikarma with the Taila/ Gritha, Viddha Agnikarma with the needles, etc.
  • The agni karma procedures like being incorporated in cases like Gridhrasi (saiatica), Sandhivata (Arthraitis), Kadara, Vatakantaka, Charmakeela, Avabahuka, Tennis Elbow, etc.

Kshara Karma / Chemical Cauterization

  • Ksharakarms or Ksharasutra is based on the basic principles of Chemical cauterization, effective in the treatment of the Fistula in Ano, Fissure in ano, Hemorrhoids/ Piles, Pilonidal Sinus, Warts, Kadara/ Corns, Chronic Non Healing ulcers, etc. Many of the practitioners are also referring the cases of Anorectal cases and also many patients related with the treatment of Kshara.
  • Presently we are using different ksharas for kshara karma procedures and also to prepare the kshara sutra.

Rakta Mokshana Is Effectively Adopted As Emergency Treatment Based On The Principles Of The Shodhana Therapy Explained In The Ayurveda. Raktamokshana Can Be Done By Different Methods Like, Siravyadhana, Prachanna, Jaloukavacharana, Etc.

  • Sushruta explains, Siravyadhanaas the Ardha chikitsa in Shalyatantra as it can mitigate the tridosh mainly the Rakta and Pitta.
  • It is practiced in the management of acute hypertension, Varicose veins, Vicharchika, Alopecia, Gridhrasi, Skin Diseases, Paadadaari, Shira Shoola, Non Healing Ulcers, etc.

Leech Therapy / Jalaukavacharana

  • The Jaloukavacharana is known as Leech therapy.
  • The Department also provides treatment for chronic non healing Ulcers, Periheral Vascular disorders, Alopecia, Skin Diseases, Osteoarthritis, Pain Management, etc. by Jalaukavacharana method

Prachhanna Karma

  • In this type multiple Shastrapada (pricks) are made by using sharp and pointed instruments like needle or knife over the diseased part. By this procedure the blood oozes out from the local area. Prachanna karma is being practiced for some Kshudra rogas, Alopecia, Eczema, Shwitra, etc.
  • As a part of curiosity we are trying to adopt the Jalauka avacharana / Leech application in case of acute Acne Vulgaris/ Yavan pidika, etc.

Wound Management

 

  • The wound management is done classically by the utilization of maximum measures mention in Shashti Upakramas.
  • Wound care will be taken care by Kashaya, local applications of Kalkas, Tailas, Kshara, etc. Lepa/ Pralepa/ Aalepa . Kshara pratisarana in the management of Non-healing ulcers/ DFU, Prachanna, Siravyadhana, Jalokavacharana, etc.

Uttar Basti

  • Uttar Basti is an important parasurgical procedure among the sixty karma as told by acharya Sushrut, Vagbhatt has mentioned Basti as Ardhachikitsa
  • Basti Chikitsa is best for the Vaat Dosha. Insertion of Medicated oil, decoction in to Uttarmarga i.e. through the passages located above or infront part of Anus i.e. Vagina or Urethra of is known as Uttarbasti.
